Le Puy En Velay

Last day in Le Puy.

Nice breakfast at our hotel.  Self-serv espresso machine, croissants, bread, cheese, ham, salami, cereals, yogurts, juice etc.

Started the repacking - backpacks only what we will carry tomorrow, and everything else goes in the bag that will be transported.

Washed out some clothes by hand and dried at the laundromat.

Rechecked how to get to the camino from our hotel
and stopped at the ATM.

On our first and only camino we were like tortoises - slow and steady carrying everything we needed on out back.  This time we are "slack packing" - letting somebody in a car carry most if our things.  Packs were about 15 pounds last time, and should be less than 9 pounds this go.  We'll see what a difference 5 pounds makes.

Light lunch - tuna quiche with tomato on top - I would never have tried that combo at home but trés bon.  But one cannot go wrong with butter and cream.

Last night, 5:30 pm, we went to the reception at the cathedral for pilgrims starting out on the Chemin de Puy. Maybe 20 there, we talked to 2 young gals from Canada that are walking all the way to Santiago, the entire 1,500+ kilometers.  They plan to camp out without a tent on their walk.

We hope to see them along the way to see how it's going without a tent.  One girl's pack weights 9 kilos-ouch.

Big procession/festival  through the streets today - ended at the cathedral - religious thing.

Having a glass of wine at hotel bar before we call it an early night.

Hoping for an early start tomorrow, early as in 8:00 ish.

Working on the bites - so itchy

Spraying everything with Clako and using anti itch cream.
