This is our gear we used on the Camino de Santiago. We are making a few changes. No sleeping bags on this trip.
BACKPACKS. Traveling with Gregory Jade 38 backpacks. We selected this size because they are big enough to carry our gear, and still are a manageable size. The real backpack trick will be to limit how much we pack inside. We don't want to fill every inch of available space and topple over backwards because of the excess weight! Our goal is to have the packs < 12-14 pounds. With that in mind (subtracting the pack weight), we can bring along 10 pounds of stuff.
We're packing clothing that is comfortable, practical for various weather conditions, sturdy, and items we love and will want to wear day after day after day!
We have to pack everything in the pack that we are taking - pretending we are walking on the most beautiful of days in Spain and we are wearing a long sleeve hiking shirt and hiking pants pants, everything else is in the pack. So everything else includes: Rain jacket and pants for wind and rain protection. REI's version of the Patagonia Nano Puff for warmth. Sun hat. Sandals to wear at night to give feet a break from hiking boots. Spare pair of hiking pants. One long sleeve hiking shirt, and one short sleeve top. Socks and sock liners. Underwear. Water. Warm hat and light weight gloves.

HIKING POLES. We're taking our Black Diamond Hiking poles - light weight, collapsible.
SLEEPING BAGS. We did some more searching and found Super light weight sleeping bags by Lafuma. So we'll be walking with Lafuma Active 45 bags. Our pack backs will be 8-10 ounces lighter. We would rather have less weight and use that saved weight for maybe some chocolate bars!
MISCELLANEOUS GEAR. Toothbrush and paste, Sunscreen, Soap, Duct tape, Sewing kit, First Aid Kit (bandaids, blister aids, ear plugs, spork, cup, Foot Cream.
