Monday, August 31 - no wifi
Got an early start, early for us, 8:15
The couple that ran the hotel and restaurant were so nice. The young man did the cooking and put a lot of heart into it. He went around asking everyone how their dinner was.
After our croissants and bread we started our 90 minute climb out of town. Ended up on the limestone plateau. Landscape was dryer and lots of scrub oak.
View back towards Cajarc.
Big stone marker
The path was mainly dirt trails
Many of the turns are marked with wayside crosses - this one dated 1746
A peaceful spot with fresh water and picnic table.
Good thing we're not walking to Santiago (Compostelle), we would have 1252 kilometers to go. We walked the last 790 kilometers of that in 2013.
Trail between stone walls
Old village
Snack break on stone wall.
The blackberries were outstanding today. Short 10-12 miles today so we stopped frequently to graze.
The number of walkers has decreased but we keep seeing a few regulars.
Small world out here on the camino.
The important stuff - dinner
Melon, pâté and toast
Main course was sausage, zucchini quiche and scalloped potatoes.
Dessert - chocolate brownie with whipped cream and ice cream
Starting to rain. More rain tomorrow.
