Navarrenx to Lichos - 14 kilometers

Short day, started out at 9:00 and arrived at 2:30

After the basic breakfast - bread, yogurt, tea, coffee, cereal, ham, cheese but no croissants, we walked around Navarrenx.  The city is build inside the old ramparts.

On top the ramparts

Nice views today, not in the corn fields

Staying in a private home, only 4 of us staying here, we are sharing bathroom with a French couple.  He is walking but his wife is not - she came by car.  Like us he walked the Camino Frances first and now, like us, he is doing the hike from Le Puy to Saint Jean Pied de Port

Also like us - he liked the walk in Spain better.  Here we are hiking the GR65.  In Spain, you walk the camino, it has a different vibe.  Both good, but Spain is much better.

Lodging entry, upon our arrival, our host made Mare a pot of tea and I had a beer.

Our lodging

Dinner - a wonderful dinner, the couple that own the house were also wonderful

Our dinner companions

Sangria to start off the meal

Foie Gras

Tomatoes from  the garden with parsley, onion, mozzarella

Green beans from the garden

Potatoes with garlic

Pork

Cheese

Fresh fruit for dessert

We had rosé wine with the meal and then the woman brought out a bottle of red to go with the cheese - to bring out the taste of the cheese.

One of our best meals on the trip.

Maslacq to Navarrenx - 21 kilometers

Got started at 8:00 and arrived 3:00.  We started our with Bjørg, she enjoys walking with people to start out and getting back to the trail.

Basic breakfast - croissants, bread, yogurt, tea and coffee.

Foggy this morning and quite a few people

All sorts of trail markings

We stick with the red and white lines

Found a cafe open on the trail, had to stop for a tea and a coffee

Lots of hills today - up and down.  More hills the closer we get to the Pyrenees.

 And cows

The Pyrenees in the background

A good sight, the entrance to our stopping point

The walls surrounding Navarrenx

Our 'guest house' - Le Relais du Jacquet - with the dark shutters

Larreule to Maslacq - 19.5 kilometers

Started walking at 9:00, arrived at 3:00

Our lodging was 8 kilometers from the trail so the fellow that picked us up yesterday in Larreule brought us back to the trail.  He dropped us in Pomps, 8 kilometers down the trail from where we were picked up.

We saved 8 kilometers today but will be walking 14+ kilometers extra because we are walking to Saint Palais which is 7 kilometers off the trail later in the week.  An extra day of walking!  We have about 100 kilometers/60 miles to go.

Started with Caroline from France and the Bjørg from Norway.

Partly sunny and in the 70s, perfect walking weather.

Walking through the corn fields

The sign says - Have the audacity to believe and the courage to do!

646 kilometers to Santiago as the birds fly or 848 kilometers to Santiago walking

Walking along

Still quite a few people on the trail.  Some are having trouble finding a place to stay and are having to walk long days.

Our hotel

Dinner

Salad - melon and ham

Turkey with mushroom sauce and fries

Dessert - ice cream and whip cream

Nice villages along the way

The Pyrenees off in the distance

The distance to Santiago goes up and down and back up from sign to sign

A water mill

Loose cow on the trail
